Khmer Greeting Rule "Sampeas"

Salutation is a courtesy to respect each other in living in a society based on Khmer traditions and customs, and it also reflects national identity. The five ways of saluting in the Khmer tradition include.

1. Salutation to the forehead: saluting the Buddha, Dharma and monks.
2. Salute at the meeting to the King.
3. Salute to the parents, elders, teachers
4. Salute to the elderly or older.
5. Salute to the chest for people of the same age, friends or status: equal.
