Khmer Art Overseas:
I can only find one Khmer artifact in the online collection of the San Antonio Museum of Art (SAMA), which has over 30,000 objects in its possession and is better known for its Greek, Roman, and Egyptian art collection. Based in San Antonio in Texas, USA, it opened its doors to the public in 1981. The sole Khmer artwork is a bronze candlestick, 16.5 centimeters tall, supported by a kneeling female deity from the 12-13th century, gifted to the museum in 2003, after it was purchased at a Christie’s New York sale in 2000; its earlier provenance is unknown.
